Reebok Classic: Aztrek Launch

I was excited to be asked to create a series of 10 posters for Reebok Classic to launch their reboot of their legendary 1993 outline ‘Aztrek’ for their ‘Play On.’ event.

 

The posters were an homage to the oldskool rave posters of the early 90s with plenty of rough textures, photocopier mistakes, crushed typography and bold iconography.

 

A huge influence on my work, the 1990s were a big time for DIY fashion, artwork, events and music – with technology needed to achieve these aims available reasonably cheaply to the masses.

 

Reebok were a big influence on the trainer market at the time – often at the forefront of innovative design and technology.

 

Elements from the various featured trainers were alluded to within the designs, such as the patterns of the Hexalite technology and DMX print alongside a visual language associated with the 90s illegal rave scene.

The poster I created were pasted at different sizes throughout the top floor of The Bargehouse to decorate the space where NTS hosted the music lineup including a headline set by the wonderful Mahalia.
 

Other attractions at the event included a ‘matrix-like’ photobooth shooting 3D gif images and a crazy Virtual Reality Reebok game which looked superb, both located in a retro gaming room filled with arcade machines.
 

 

 

There was also a room hosted by Hunger Magazine which featured a recreation of a 90s bedroom set and many awesome pieces from the Reebok archives which the Hunger team styled the visitors in and then shot their portraits with the excellent photography team.
 

900 posters of my designs were given out to visitors at the event, which was a huge success.
